A Celebration of 30 Years of Research on Cancer Cause and Prevention
2007 was a milestone year for the Science Park - Research Division (SPRD) with the celebration of 30 years of research on cancer cause and prevention. A series of events commemorated the occasion with the goals of (i) raising funds for cancer research; (ii) acknowledging and honoring those who were instrumental in the birth of SPRD and who have contributed to its mission since; (iii) increasing SPRD's visibility within the Central Texas community; and (iv) increasing SPRD's visibility with government representatives.
Events included participation in the 50th Annual Smithville Jamboree Parade on April 14, 2007; a celebration to honor SPRD founders and donors on April 21, 2007; and a community open house on April 28, 2007. Funds raised at the April events are designated for ongoing research efforts into the causes and prevention of cancer, and there are a number of opportunities still available for those who wish to make a donation. Donations may be made in honor or memory of someone who has battled cancer. Funds from these contributions help our scientists to continue their search to discover the many causes of cancer, its complicated development, and its prevention. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
If you would like to make a donation or buy a brick paver to become part of a walkway to our planned new fourth laboratory building, please use our donation form. For more information contact:
