SPRD Celebrates the Completion of Laboratory IV
We are proud to announce that a fourth laboratory building has recently been completed and investigators will move in during the winter of 2009. The new building is 23,000 square feet with 16,228 square feet dedicated to laboratory space. Instead of conventional laboratory furnishings the new laboratory contains modular laboratory furniture that will provide increased flexibility and collaboration in the twelve laboratory spaces. The laboratory was slated to cost $16 million but is anticipated to run slightly under budget. This new laboratory building will house five current Science Park - Research Division faculty members and their research groups. Additionally, the laboratory will provide accommodations for growth in existing research programs, shared resource facilities, and will provide accommodations for a future faculty recruit. Other utility projects were also completed in tandem with the laboratory, including installation of a sewer line, a new well and water storage tank, and an upgrade of the electrical distribution system. In addition, two of the three planned parking lots have been completed, generating approximately 100 new parking spaces.
Laboratory IV will allow Science Park - Research Division faculty members to continue to conduct innovative and timely research that will translate into improved human health as the molecular mechanisms behind the development and progression of cancer are elucidated. If you would like to make a donation or purchase a brick paver that will become a part of the laboratory terrace, please use our donation form.
