PSCS Therapeutics
Despite the overwhelming evidence that CSCs are generally more resistant to therapeutics, some drug-tolerant cancer cells may present as dormant cells and actually exhibit reduced tumor-initiating capacity at a specific stage/time point. Emerging evidence also indicates that it is possible to find the Achilles heel of CSCs to therapeutically target these relatively undifferentiated tumor cells. With our deepening knowledge on PCSCs, we are planning to develop mAbs as well as chemical drugs that can specifically target them. For general strategies of targeting CSCs, please see our review in Yan et al., (2009).
