NIEHS Comparative Mouse Genomics Centers Consortium (CMGCC)

The UT M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is one of five members of the Comparative Mouse Genome Consortium funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)

Purpose: The Comparative Mouse Genome Consortium (CMGC) is part of the NIEHS Environmental Genome Project. The goal of this Project is to establish how genetic polymorphisms influence disease susceptibility or resistance after exposure to environmental agents. The purpose of the CMGC is to develop novel transgenic and knockout mouse models that will mirror specific human polymorphic variants found in the general population. These models will focus on genetic polymorphisms in DNA repair and cell cycle control genes. Once characterized, these murine models will be made available to the biomedical community for further investigation.
